I thought that this was interesting, so decided to post it here. I have one of these, and realize after watching this, I made a lot of mistakes with mine. I am going to try this culture method and see what happens. Not that I need a Vanilla in a 100 gal container LOL. Or do I?

Isn't it nice? I love the purple. I also have a small new Vanilla aphyllum that I may try growing this way

Just recently picked up a vanilla planifolia. Trying again. Maybe this info will help.

I went out and looked at my dilloniana. Its brown farther up the pole than I thought. I am going to have to get the 10 ft ladder to see how far int is, I can't visualize it from the ground
