How did this happen? It's already just one hour away from the 5th of March and I haven't posted a March chat thread. Apologies to all. February was grim -- lot of cold rain, cold wind, and cold cold coldness in general. So far, March hasn't been any better. "In like a lion, out like a lamb," the saying goes. March certainly came in like a lion this year, so the thumbnail photo for this month is Lions-Rose. Let's hope March goes out like a lamb. I could use some warmth.

Snow? I've been in my present home for 40 years and it has snowed once in all that time. Even that time it was only "snow in the air" because the flakes melted before they reached the ground.

February was very mild here in Germany, March has been quite cold so far.
Luckily there were no more frosts here.
I´ve cut back and fertilized all roses.
Some of the roses are very early this year, they already have a lot of new leafs.

Today is "National Sharon Day", the rose is:

It looks like I lost 4 roses over the winter. One is in bad soil, 2 in good soil so not sure what's up with them and the last one I saved from other house but it wasn't a favorite. Black Baccara and Parfume Factory were the 2 in good spots. Giving those some more time. The others I can tell easily they're dead. I may end up putting Munstead where BB is now if it doesn't come back. It never did look good last year but just hoped it was first year blues.

Pepper, as I understand it, Black Baccara is a bit of a diva. It only took me one year to kill it.

Divas won't make it here. I'm up on a hill with no wind blocks. Good soil where it's at but I still won't coddle them much. I have several roses in pots that I need to check on and hopefully those made it. Buried the pots but that doesn't mean anything with some roses. Rolling my eyes.
