Years and years ago I bought a flowering Siam Tulip (Curcuma alismatiflolia) which I had never seen before and just had to have. Didn't realize that they go dormant in the fall, and thought it had died. Getting spring fever, and heard that they could be grown as houseplants for the summer, so have ordered seeds due to arrive early April. Anyone have any experience with these, or tips on growing them in the house?

Started a Turmeric or Curcuma longa a few years back, they beautiful flowers, may be worth a try. Used a tuber from an organic food store.

Thanks for the reply! Going to experiment with the seeds that are coming. 10 seeds for $15.00, so not a big expense, and will have fun maybe trying them out both indoors and outside. This time I will try to overwinter the rhizomes if they produce any. Crossing Fingers! Crossing Fingers!

I just put the container in a cool, dark spot, give it 1/4-1/2 cup of water once a month, bring it out in the spring and let it start all over

That sounds easy. So I just leave them in their potting mix when they go dormant?

Yes, I just leave them in the container
