Thread OP

This plant is in the west coast of Oaxaca, close to the ocean. I bought it about 6 years ago and now it has a flower stalk.

That is so cool! Thanks for sharing. I guess you'll want to try to propagate new plants of it, either from seeds or pups, so I wish you luck with that.

I'm not sure the agave in the most recent picture is filifera (which I have grown) ... leaves are narrower and more numerous than I would expect from the species, which admittedly is variable. I would put it in the ballpark of a smallish multifilifera (a solitary species which I also have grown) without more info and flower pictures. But this is not a designation I can make with any certainty, so I will be moving the image to the genus entry until we can sort out the species properly.

It is a lovely plant. I would love to see flower pics down the road, if that might be possible. And
