Not sure what this is. I found it among a bunch of weeds but it looked different from the weeds surrounding it so I am curious as to what it is.

I'm thinking spinach or related greens, maybe. Culinary sage has longer, fuzzy leaves.

That's what I was thinking, however, I am unsure of how it would have gotten here as I have not grown anything like that before.

My first thought was a form of ajuga, but seeing the little spines rules that out.

An app I use to identify plants says this is an herb called Self Heal. I had not heard of it before, but (if that's what this is) it is an interesting little plant.

There's a thought... It may be prunella.

You'll know when it blooms.
