What is causing my lobelia to get so tall and leggy? I'm not sure if this is natural or if it needs a trim. It's in my greenhouse and getting plenty of light. The variety is Raggata Midnight Blue. I'd like to use this is mixed flower planters.

Hi Mollie,
Park Seed says the Regatta series Lobelias are trailing types with a "trailing, mounding" habit. So I was thinking they might just be a taller type. But, no, it says height of 6" and spread of 10-12".
Compared to lobelias I've grown from seeds, these look paler green and a little etiolated - reaching for light. Can you give them brighter light closer to the tops? And a test fertilization with about 1/4 strength Miracle-Gro or similar soluble complete fertilizer with minors. Don't let the growing medium get soggy.

If they respond to the fertilizer by developing deeper-green leaves, repeat that every couple weeks.

If they take a turn for the worse they could be developing root rot. I hope not!

Best wishes
Pat
