Can someone tell me if you can divide a clump of hellebores without digging up the whole clump? Can you just cut off a part of it while it's still in the ground? Thanks for your advice!

I have not tried but have taken seedlings that were right up against the mother plant without issue.

I am watching because I need to thin my clumps. I only have 2, Royal Heritage and the solid green. They are beginning to grow to close together. I have planted seedlings but never dug into the mature clumps. Anyone have a good source for the doubles?

For light pink Cotton Candy and dark pink Peppermint Ice but my best one has been a close to black Onyx Odyssey.
