So, today on "what is this thing on my property" is what sort of monocot (likely bulb) thing am I looking at?

We have that, but at higher altitudes. Not sure asphdelus would have completely covered the inflorescence bud with some sort of membrane...

Native to north america. Don't know of any runaway populations or have seen such plants prior..

Agree with RJ. Not sure of the variety. Most alliums are prolific self seeders here. Some have ephemeral foliage, but not all.
