I want to plant some pansies and ranunculus this spring. How hardy are they and what temps should I be careful of? I'm in zone 5 - 6.

I find pansies and violas able to handle some below freezing temps. I have planted them as early as March here. Sometimes they overwinter for me but mostly they do not.
I don't have a lot of experience with ranunculus. They are not hardy here but they go for sale here while temps are still cool.
