Pardon my ignorance; here to learn.

Hi!
I've been told there is a disease that is wiping out Blue Spruces planted East of the Rockies. Is that true? I read that right after planting a Baby Blue Eyes Spruce. :sad:
Is there such a disease in the eastern half of the US?
If so, are there preventative measures I should take for my tiny tree?
