I am so ready for spring! We've had some uncharacteristically windy weather in the last few months. First a huge oak branch fell off my neighbor's tree onto the roof of my screened porch and knocked down part of my fence. Then the top half of another neighbor's redwood tree fell into my garden and damaged part of my fence on the other side of my property. Fortunately, the trees fell in my direction both times instead of smashing my neighbors' homes.

April is Jazz Appreciation Month, so the thumbnail rose this month is 'That's Jazz.'

I hope your property damage isn't severe. I love my trees and have planted dozens around our farm, but they do tend to fall on things - mostly fences here.

Not at all severe, luckily. The oak debris has already been cleared away. The tree company employees did more damage than the tree, stomping their way through flower beds to pick up small branches and breaking plants at ground level as they worked. Seven roses and a few hydrangeas will now have to grow back from their roots -- or not.

The redwood trunk will have to be lifted out of my back yard by a crane. I won't see the full extent of the damage until then. No homes, humans, or animals were hurt, however, and my neighbors' insurance companies will cover the cost, so no big whoop.

That's terrible and I'm glad you were able to remedy it quickly, and that's no joke! Happy April fool's day everyone!

I took this picture many years ago. She now covers the fence and the two trees on her left and right.
I apologize for the furry photo. I can't find my camera to submit a better one

Oh darn I did it again ~ forgot that I have to be on the lookout for the new month's Photos and Chat. I had started to think people had given up growing roses and just remembered to check. I had been watching for March and completely forgot about whole new posts start in April. D'Oh!

A modest hello trying out cell phone skills with intermittent internet open signal... Sighing!
Well fall is on its way this far south. Green Grin! So roses are putting their seasonal farewell show. Usually, its the best of shows, so if I succeed with uploading pics I may contribute a few

This is Noid bush putting a very late flush now in fall. It should have bloomed mid summer two months ago Confused
It has the delightful damask scent over which I drool. Drooling
I am trying to find its true name, I purchased it as Kazanlik, but was told that it is clearly not.

I was just about to inquire whether you are in Australia when I read Arturo at the bottom of the post and I know you are in Argentina. Welcome back. Your new cell takes great pictures. That is one beautiful rose!

@Calif_Sue, my bygone phone company does not provide internet by cable anymore Grumbling One morning jan 22,our phone + internet was dead. So suddenly I was forced to migrate quickly to my cell phone, which I hardly used until then D'Oh! . Then I tried to connect this site, but I hadnt kept my password. Thats when my unsolved nightmare started. This site only recognizes me if I provide the correct password which I no longer know or have access to. Possibly I fumbled and surely pressed the wrong button and then Google blocked me off, I no longer got access to my emails. Finally in my desperation I opened a new username associated to my gmail which google recognizes and so does garden.org.
Towards the end of this year, there is a strong chance that a different phone company will lay out an optic fibre net in our neighbourhood. One section is already operating, a second is being connected these days, but we belong to last batch. When that happens, I hope my desktop computer will retrieve the password of my previous username and recover access to it. Sighing! Whistling Crossing Fingers! I miss my tmails or pics that were a contribution to this garden org, where I made so many valuable friends. So given, I still thank God that I can keep contact with my new alias... Crossing Fingers!

I'm getting the beginnings of a few rose blooms. May is usually peak bloom so we're on our way!

Very refreshing to see the start of blooming season. It is raining and miserable here right now with high winds. Snow tomorrow again.

@Calif_Sue is that a picture of a Martha Washington geranium in the mix. Can they be grown from seeds? I had bought a full grown plant years ago (lost it) and was looking for seeds in the catalogues but have not stumbled across any MW's.
