I planted my tomatoes about 30 days ago. They have grown to about 1 1/2 feet in the cool weather. They will take off next week as we expect temps to be above 70 degrees from then and the rest of the season here in No CA so I will cage them then. They will grow to at least 5 feet tall.

My question is: Do you think I should prune off some of the lower leaves now? They are drooping a bit since they are waited down in the current rain, but I have never pruned this early.

I welcome and thank you in advance for your experience.

I would definitely take the lower leaves off now, Frank - they have plenty of growth on top and won't miss them a bit. (Very nice-looking tomato plants, by the way!)

After a month and a half my plants have reached 2'-3'. We have not had warm nights yet, so I do not expect fruit until mid-June at the earliest although I planted this year super early (15 March). I've come to the conclusion that regardless if I plant in March or April, the first fruit comes at the same time.

Yes, take those lower leaves off. The [lants do not need them. And the plants do look great!!
