Anyone know what this plant is? It was labelled as French Lavender, but I thought the leaves looked a bit different. The plant is fragrant, with a lavender-like smell. But I'm not sure. Any thoughts?

If it is a lavender, is it useable for tea? I know some species aren't supposed to taste so good...

Looks like L. dentata French Lavender (Lavandula dentata) (edible, but probably doesn't taste good)

As far as I know, that is an annual lavender, grown for looks mostly.

Yes, French lavender, L. dentata as Janine said, identifiable by the toothed (dentata) leaves. Not an annual, but one of the least hardy species. L. angustifolia, English lavender, is hardier and the species most often used culinarily.

Btw, in another thread you asked about herbs for teas. I blend lavender, catnip/catmint, Melissa (lemon balm) and lemongrass for an excellent sleep-inducing brew.

Thanks for the ID help!
I found an English Lavender today so I purchased it. I'll use the English for tea and the French as an ornamental in one of my patio planters. Smiling

@NMoasis - I'll have to give that a try. I have a locally made herbal tea for sleep. But I'd definitely like to try making one myself.

Homemade with homegrown is so gratifying! 💚
