Can you please post a close-up photograph of the leaves showing as much detail as possible?
Your daylilies should have been absolutely fine in the garage in your USDA zone.
The leaves of many daylilies die in the autumn and during winter and are replaced in the spring with short, young, sprouting, new leaves. When the old leaves die they collapse becoming limp and then slowly dry up or remain limp and somewhat moist depending on the weather.
Daylilies remove some resources from old and dying leaves so they can re-use the resources or store them for needy times, etc. Some daylily growers cut-off dying leaves and that is fine as gardeners provide fertilizer, etc. to more than replace any resources lost when leaves are cut-off early.
Hopefully your daylilies have small young new leaves sprouting under the old limp leaves.
