I understand that male Sago Palms have a cone shaped bloom and females have a large ball shaped bloom. What do I have in the included photo? This is a female Sago and has had a ball bloom for many years, however this year it looks like it has a mohawk.... Any ideas?

For some reason, its fasciated. Google 'fasciated sago blooms' and look at images. Lots of photos looking just like yours.

No, I have no idea why it happened or if it will ever happen again.
