It does look like baby purslane. Let it get bigger, it will be easier to tell.

Also looks like purslane to me. I would want to see blooms to be sure, if I'm going to eat it. There are pics in the database on this site to compare:
Common Purslane (Portulaca oleracea)

... but most forage is more nutritious before it blooms.

I had an elderly friend who loved purslane. She picked the big lush green ones (not the water starved ones) just before they bloomed.

Pull a couple out and lay them on a paper and take a pic so we can see the roots and stems. (If you use a manilla folder color, gray or off white paper, it will be easier to get a good pic.) They look like purslane to me, too. Of course, if you ever applied any pesticides to the previous plant(s) or soil, I wouldn't eat it, even if it is edible. Did you grow an ornamental purslane in there previously? That's a lot of see that germinated!

No i never used pesticides or any chemicals , i used to grow mint before and left a gap and then sowed desi coriander seeds but purslane grew.

We never use any chemicals in any of our terrace plants.

Yeah i am surprised too so many germinated.

I have attached the latest pic here as well !!

Thanks @Leftwood

I've never tried cooking it...
How did it turn out?
I grow a lot of jewels of opar (Talinum paniculatum) very similar... supposed to be able to cook it as well as eating it fresh...

edit: Purslane is supposed to be anti-inflammatory (good for arthritis)
Might need to make an effort to collect...

Wild Purslane grows here like crazy; it's highly invasive! Frankly I've never eaten weeds/flowers yet and don't plan on it unless I absolutely had to. Hilarious! I've heard you can eat Chickweed but...Im no rabbit.
Ban the GMO tomato!

Thanks @all , i ate the purslane with dal , there are a lot of youtube recipes if you wanna give a try - just type - common purslane recipes in youtube or bing or chrome.

Fact - it did not taste bitter and tasted like all the usual spinach varieties, since i harvested it early it tasted young as well and my harvest time was 18th day.

Overall was worth a try, mom has many other ideas for the purslane too, i will update as time passes by Smiling

I find it quite tasty raw, slightly lemony. I would hesitate to cook too long, like add to a dish close to the end if you wish to cook it, to maintain some texture. Never really tried it cooked alone however. Like to hear what you discover.
