In my zone, calibrachoa and verbena are considered annuals. There is a type of perennial verbena that I think many states consider invasive, but we don't have that here, or at least I've never run across it.
Are they in the ground or in containers? Using a balanced fertilizer is best, I've had them both in my annual containers often and I fertilized them weekly with at least Miraclo-Gro Bloom Booster when I did it by hand (plus SuperThrive and PlantVantage). Now I have a drip system set up with a fertilizer unit attached so they get a small dose daily with each watering. Verbena probably isn't such a heavy feeder, but calibrachoas are (and petunias which I have mixed in with them). But my fertilizing schedule never harmed the verbena in containers.
If they're in the ground, fertilizing once a month should be good for the verbena, and every 2 weeks for the calibrachoa.
