I dug up a small firecracker plant from Florida and plan to grow it in a pot. Haven't got a clue and wonder if it looks ok. Did produce 2 flowers under lights over winter

Your Firecracker Plant (Russelia equisetiformis) looks okay but I've never known anyone to grow one as an indoor plant. For longterm health and flowering I think it will require much more light than it will receive in an indoor setting. Depending on what part of Florida you live, it will most likely do much better if you plant it in the ground.

LOL, Your profile info shows your location as North Central Florida, which is why I suggested planting it outside. Smiling Your plant will probably do okay outside in NH during the warm months, just be sure the pot has good drainage and that the soil is never soggy-wet.

That sounds more like Z9. But I meant to ask, on what kind of property?

In sandy soil, hardly any body to it. Grew well there, with amendments. I'd love to see it grow in a pot here(zone5), and it does have a couple more flowers. Think I should pinch it back or anything?

I'm not sure there's much hope for it inside because it will be hard for it to get enough sun shining right on it.

Similar plants that don't need as much sun might be a good replacement if this doesn't work out, like the various Rhipsalis.

A link to a search for Rhipsalis in the plant database on this site:
