I have heard of people putting their heart and soul into their gardens, but you have given your life's blood just to tie up your tomato plants. Now that is a dedicated gardener!!

Plastic bags, including supermarket-carry-home-bags, can be cut so that they turn into loops of plastic. If you cut them wide, they can support even a heavy leaner without cutting into the stem or hurting the skin.

Then there's the really old, classic "pea brush". If you have woody twigs falling in your yard, or you trim them from trees and bushes, save them for pole beans and tall peas. Especially prize the "Y"s and tripod twigs. You can push them into the ground around the peas or beans, forming a jungle gym that the vines will climb.

P.S. I never like the way that unsupported "bush" peas flop and draggle on the soil surface. They don't look happy, either. If I give them even a single string or branch to cling to, they stand up straighter, catch more light, stay cleaner, and are easier to pick. They seem happier, also!

Since I can't give blood and I'm trying hard to stay out of the hospital, I will have to rely on my favorite, panty hose!

Panty hose to tie up plants....mmmm, let's see now.
That would make them 'support hose'!

YES!! I am open to TRADES...PLEASE
I had to give hydration IV fluids to my cat at home after an operation.
I found that the tubing was very useful as ties for staking a tree, of coarse after the cat was done with it.
2 years later I'm still using that tubing here and there, with kitty in tow of coarse, still soft, pliable and easily knots with holding power
Visit my trades list and poke around :-)

Heart, soul, blood, sweat, tears, pantyhose, loopy plastic bags, IV tubing and more....at least no one thus far has suggested - dare I say it even in jest? - cat gut.

Oh, no she didn't just say that! Oh, yes she did.

Oh yes, I brought tubing home, but not IV tubing, rather oxygen tubing. You are very right, Pat. The stuff it great. It is flexible and lasts! Mary, I'm afraid the cat gut on my tennis racquet is far to thin! (wink)
