OK...I bought this plant thinking it was an African Violet...........at the time I did not know there were AV standards, AV trailing and I was just browsing in the Violet Barn. It turned out when I got it the difference was obvious but similiar, and it was a sinnigia.............called Bristol's Love Potion. That is the one I spoke about earlier that the leaf came off and now I have babies. Here are some shots of this lovely plant and the buds are so unusual I had to share them.



They are obviously easy to propagate or I would not have pots with babies from that one leaf.

African plants are something i struggle with, i have a healthy variegated one now, arent the variegated ones harder to grow

Teen, I wish I could help you but unless someone else comes on here and gives us both some help your question will go unanswered. I am just learning also, I raise gardenias, jasmine and other tropicals. This is my first attempt with Streptocarpus and African Violets and I am full of questions also. Not sure about the variegated AV's. I am interested in the answer to that question as well.

Thought I would like to share one of my trailing African Violets with you all. It is such a cute little thing and I am not sure what a "trailing" AV is supposed to look like when mature, I need to do some research). It is called Pixie Runabout Sport.

JB, your sinnigia looks like a plant that I used to grow years ago and called gloxinia. The bloom is large and feels velvety compared to AVs and streps and is awesome looking. You will love it.

I have the same problem JB. I told my husband in the next house, I would really love to have an old fashioned Conservatory. I got a blank stare from him.....

I just ordered a few more. What a wonderful plant this is. I am so happy with it....the leaf that came off in shipping has given me four babies. I hope I can keep them alive. This is all so new to me I am so afraid I will mess up in some way.
