Very nice. My koi are in a big aquarium tank at the moment because I took out their pond. The rest of my tanks and ponds just have goldfish. The koi are growing on me, but I have to watch out for herons coming up from the rivers for a snack.

Years ago my mother used to say to me, she'd say, "In this world, Elwood, you must be" - she always called me Elwood - "In this world, Elwood, you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant." Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant. You may quote me.

i am 2 blocks off the duwamish ( seattles big river ) but i never get haron trying to fish. I think the deep water standing 4 feet off the ground with the strait sides deters them. I have no idea though it is also feet away from 2 walls of my house and slightly overhung. Have seen haron in small preformed pond but my dog was inches away from the last one and i havent seen another yet

Your fish are beautiful. I really love the shishui's and yours' have quite a bit of blue on them. When I bought mine, I chose the one that had the most blue and he has kept most of his blue. How long have you had your pond?

Occasionally I see Mr. Heron flying overhead. I live between 2 rivers and it was a number of years ago that he visited us. We put in one of the sensor sprayers that really worked as a deterrent, but my sprayer died this past Summer. Mr. Heron has not discovered that he could probably snack on my fish, but I am afraid that he will figure that out soon..... I do have the straight sides on my pond, too and I think that helps.

I would love to see more photos of your fish. Here are some of mine doing the 'Feed Me Dance'. They remind me of puppies when I walk by the side of the pond.

Right now, some of my fish are getting very large with eggs.

One of our koi (one of two Rolling on the floor laughing ) has gotten huge, well huge for us, about 1.5'. Since the fish usually go into caves under the rock at the bottom for the winter we were concerned that he would get stuck as he seems to swim in and has to back out. We put a mesh with 2" grin over the entrance so it blocks him and one other gold fish from going in. The other fellows can swim in and out.

Mark, would love to see the rest of your pond. You aren't related to any Mallons in California are you?

Hi everyone thanks for the comments and all etc. Not related to any Mallons from California to my knowledge, could be but my family is from back east. Some of my koi in my old pond were killed by raccoons back when we went on a road trip with my dog. got new fish but my camera is not doing them justice right now. can show you my new pond with the filter set up and new raccoon guard. old pond still there just never got around to puting a roof over it so did not want to let it go for another winter. too much water too close to my house for the timbers after a few years. Its probly fine but dont feel like dealing with it and needed a larger pond.

That's quite a set up. Looks like it would be easy to maintain. And gosh knows racoon proof. Hilarious!
