Big Grin
edited to add: Mary, as I said on the other thread, the lady who ordered the painting asked for a 'big red flower', so in my mind I saw the poppies that I had written about for Memorial Day. Had to enlarge them a little bit, though, sort of exaggerated duplication, ya think?

Naw, I'm sure you had the proportions all worked out before you started. Big space, big canvas, big flower, and when viewed from a distance it will be just right! I did smile when I thought of the size of the plant needed to support such a flower!

Yep, the stem of the original flower is about the size of a single little brush stroke.

The buyers just picked it up, just now, and when the woman first saw it, her mouth dropped open, eyes got huge. I'm not sure what they expected, but they seemed to love it.

YES!!

Now back to my 'floor' and my weeds.

She gave you a lot of leeway in just saying "a big, red flower". Do you think she will invite you to see it in her home?

I'm sure she will, Mary. She is a retired teacher in our system, though she's elementary certified and I am secondary so we never taught in the same schools. But she's a casual friend and we visit occasionally. They purchased a new home recently, with higher ceilings and more space, so that's why the painting right now. They are very nice people, she's just not sure what works well when decorating and they do a lot of entertaining.

Her last words before they left were, "I can't wait to show off my painting."
And so it goes - she was happy, that's what matters. Smiling
