I just rcvd some clumps of 'Don't Know Jack' from Maryott's and are planted in 3 different beds. They're all the same size and
I will feed one with store bought worm castings, one with alfalfa pellets, one with milorganite and will report back next year.

I wonder how often worms need to be checked on as I'm not home much and has prevented me from vermicomposting.

You can ignore them for what seems like forever. I once went over 2 months without opening the lid of a worm bin. When I opened it, they were happy with a huge population and nearly all their cardboard was gone. I harvested the castings and gave them new bedding and they kept going.

Thanks much and I'm dragging up the Rubbermaid Tote from basement to drill. If you were top dressing 700 daylilies how many gallons of castings would you need?
