To keep algae growth down and your bird bath clean, add 1 capful of apple cider vinegar or 1 teaspoon per gallon of water to the bird bath. The apple cider vinegar also provides vitamins & minerals to the birds.

I take it, but I never thought about giving to my birds. I'm going to try this tomorrow...both indoors, and out. I think I'll give it to my indoor birds in an extra dish and see which they go for the most.
I was reading on some bird forums & they give it to their birds; also on some poultry forums. Interesting. I don't know how much you should put in a little bird water dish though. I got the amounts I stated here from sites where they were talking specifically about putting it in bird baths.

Some links said 1 tsp. per gallon & some links said 1 cap full but I took it they meant the size cap on the bottle as pictured not something like a gallon jug which would have a larger cap.
Google it Marilyn.
