This looks exactly like a plant I have that we call Mexican Oregano, the smell and taste is stronger than regular oregano. I dry the leaves and use it in place of oregano. It can also be used fresh although it is strong and rather fleshy, so not as much is needed. It roots easily and down here if you put it in the ground it will take over. I have found it gets too bushy after awhile, so every couple years I toss the old plant and root new. Anyway, it is fine to eat. I'm still here and I've been eating it for years.
