I don't think those are I. purpurea. Judging by the size of the flowers and leaf shape, I would say they are Ipomoea cordatotriloba.

Please share my joy today. For several days as I walked my dog Jack I kept seeing an interesting wildflower. Still no photo (I'll go back out soon) but I have made the identification and gathered some seeds.

It's in the Lamiaceae family, Trichostema dichotomum L, aka Forked Blue Curls/Eastern Bluecurls, Blue Curls, and Bastard Pennyroyal.

Frostweed should be blooming now, maybe finish up in a month or when first frost occurs.

I love my blue curls Hurray! They self sow very willingly....I have them in pots where seeds have landed and in the ground. When the bees land on them the curl wraps around their "butts" Smiling They are just really cool little flowers

Thanks...they are very near and dear to my heart. I got mine from a friend who was dying of cancer. Last year everyone who came here with regards to Bill was sent off with some.

The cold knocked back a lot of stuff that would have been blooming this past month over a more mild winter, but Henbit has started the show. Yesterday was a beautiful day for a drive, and there were plenty of pretty purple lawns to look at!!
I just submitted some pics of this plant, taken yesterday. although there are already a ton of excellent ones there. Looks like I'm not the only one who loves a purple lawn for spring.

Henbit (Lamium amplexicaule)

Mustard has also started blooming this week, some Trifolium clovers.

I have some wildlife shots of henbit... from previous years.

Like the Trichostema, Lamium has interesting flowers if you can get a clear pic... and attract pollinators better than the larger flowered items...
Last year... seemed like my pear and peach blooms had few visitors, while the bees were busily visiting the henbit... guaranteeing next years crop of weeds... rather than focusing where I wanted...

Not much happening in my neck of the woods either.

The early blooms of Flowering Quince is a bright spot in the winter lanscape ~

It took ten shots to get a picture of the Quince because, as usual, the dogs want in the picture! Rolling on the floor laughing
