I'm not a daylily person either but I thought what-the-hey and went for it with one ticket. My acorn purse is not very deep. ;)

All the daylilies I planted for other people in their gardens do just fine. Maybe they are using a different sun than I am?
It's not that I haven't tried but daylilies in my own garden just don't seem to like me; also cannot grow Daturas or Angel Trumpet.
Maybe I should use a different soap and deodorant?

I usually add the pile of acorns prizes to raffles that don't have very many prizes, in order to bulk up the offering. In this case we have 7 great prizes so I didn't feel like anything else was needed.

They just sit there. They don't grow but they don't die either. I waited over 6 years for one bloom.
Same with the Datura, just sits there. I have a yard full of plants, some of which are not even supposed to grow in my zone and they are all doing fine. Total strangers stop by to talk about plants.

Maybe it's like true love and you only get one shot at it. I am okay with only having one daylily in my life - it is the best daylily in the world to me.

How deep are the crowns? If they are too deep, they often won't bloom and if you mulch your plants where the crown ends up being too deep, that is often the reason they don't bloom. Do not set the crown (i.e., the point where foliage and roots join) more than 1 inch below the surface of the soil. Also, if the clump is too big and is in need of dividing, that can affect bloom.
