Just stopped in to say Hi and see what is on the table for August?

Went to the farmers market this Saturday and took this photo.

She must have a nice cutting garden, and look at all the sunflowers.

Hello all, I have been looking around, wow you all have some great cut flower arrangements! Such a nice job!! I have a question, but it won't be from a cut flower in my garden! My step daughter is getting married next May, her colors are a navy or dark blue and silver. She had spoke to a florist regarding a blue flower to accent for her bouquet they suggested a purple flower, I can not remember what it was now. But she didn't care for it. Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't think she has any idea what she wants yet, she is just trying to get some ideas to build on. I am surfing around the web and thought I'd just ask on here too.

Thanks!

There are a few blue flowers to choose from, was the purple one Lisianthus? Its fairly common for weddings and such. A good blue one is Eryngium 'Jackpot', it has a really good blue color and a slight metalic sheen so it could really fit in with the silver too....it all depends on what her tastes are. It would look fantastic with some softer flowers like 'Heiress' or even 'Vendela' roses! 'Heiress' is very soft and elegant and fragrant too!
There is also Gentians, they are a real true blue but more closer to sky blue then navy.

Blue is a desirable color for most gardeners and rather hard to fine , especially in a deep blue.
The only deep blue I have growing is Salvia black and blue, and some Hyacinths (early spring bulbs)
Thumb of 2011-08-07/gardengus/89b3b5
Salvia black and blue

I have never seen salvia used in a formal bouquet.

There are some very nice hydrangea that are a medium blue,
sorry no photos
