Just to catch up on my Linere rooting. It didnt work. The stem cuttings all died and most of the host plant is gone.
There was a small rooted section left in the outdoor container but it's too snowfilled and frozen to look.
Late April will tell me if that piece made it.

Valleylynn, most of my sedums are dormant right now, I have a couple of non-hardy varieties that serve as soil cover in potted plants. I learned the hard way that Chocolate Ball isn't hardy, ditto for Ogon. I have some seedlings, I got some seed from Ebay and Alplains.

Cool photo Celene. Which sedum are those?

Chocolate Ball. And I forgot to answer you, I'm 6a. For sedums and semps, I stipulate 6a with clay, which does impact hardiness. I grow in pots, and work to improve the soil every year. I have beds edged with stones, and I amended the soil heavily around the stones so sedums and semps would grow well. Alplains also has some z5-6 cactus that I'd like to try when I feel like they have a good chance of actually surviving. They might still need to grow in containers to keep the dogs safe.

If my S. lineare reappears, I'll take cuttings, I have the variegated version. This was a super cold winter, it'll be a test for sure.

Celene: I am also 6a and took my Linere in for the winter. It's veriagarte also.It nearly completely dried up and died but since 2 weeks ago there is new growth in the center.
I also have clay and plan to transplant the Linere to a container onj the deck.
Fingers crossed for this summer.

It's overwintered for 5-6 years, so last year I didn't take in any cuttings. And we had below zero weather for weeks, we'll see if it survives.

That is one tough sedum Celene and Jo Ann. You two have real winters. We have pretend winters in comparison.

I think I will have to find some of that this year. I love the way it looks in that container.

Valleylynn, I'll be happy to send you sprouts if mine lives. I don't see any growth on it, but it dies to the ground every year. I think I got mine from Pepper's Greenhouse originally. That, or Baker's Acres in Alexandria, Ohio. They have the best selection of sedums and sempervivums that I've seen in person.

Thank you so much for the offer Celene. I've seen it several places locally last year. If I don't find it I will take you up on the offer.

Nursery cruising season is here. Hurray!

It is not here yet, at least in Ohio. Baker's Acres opens Saturday, but they'll have a limited selection. www.bakersacresgreenhouse.com

Check out the sedums, alpines, and sempervivums. Droolerific! Note that they do not ship.

Sedum 'Chocolate Ball' was hardy here. It survived down to zero degrees and several ice storms.
