I would love to make a shallow bird bath. Do you add some type of reinforcements? I REALLY want to try this. Hurray!

I have bluebirds that use my store bought one but I have to leave the water shallow or they will not get in.

Yes we did use a reinforcement wire as these are so very large and heavy.

A screen mesh, or chicken wire maybe? How did you shape the big circle?

We used extruded metal plaster lath similar to this
http://expandedmetalcompany.co...
We purchased it at Lowes it was near the portland cement.
I would think that a piece of chicken wire would work also I have used that in my larger hypertufa pots.
All the leaves and the round bird bath were formed over mounded sand, to give them a cupped shape to hold water.

Your leaves are lovely and that pond with the leaf waterfall are making me drool! I have wanted to make some myself, but I want big ones and I don't have a source for large leaves...YET. I'll keep looking for a source. Someone in this area must be growing elephant ears I can beg off of Green Grin!
