Here in Kentucky, you just never know when the Hellebores will bloom- our winters can be like Georgia or like Michigan, it's a toss of the dice. Last year at this time I had lots of blooms, but we're having a long, cold winter this year, so I'm not seeing any new growth yet. I let the old leaves hang on till they start looking shabby and new growth starts- I've wondered if the old leaves help protect the new growth? Some years we get super gold weather after new growth and blooms are on, and I see damage, although they typically produce more growth and blooms afterwords too.
Last year I started seeing some pretty Hellebores at box stores, Lowes and Home Depot. I love them with spring bulbs.
