I just put up a plastic greenhouse today. My grandson wanted a you tube channel and since school is cancelled this year, we decided to do some science and gardening. I don't know what I'm doing so we are learning together. Today we planted carrots and pumpkins in egg containers. Tomorrow we will do more.
Hope to learn from ya all. I'm new here. Connie

Welcome, @Conniehostet. It's great to get your grandson interested in gardening. It's a wonderful pastime and will always be there for you regardless of what's going on in the world.

Connie, if you don't mind, please go to your menu (the little fella in the upper right corner), click on "Your Profile", and then enter your location. City/state is OK but if you know your zone, include that.

Hi Connie and welcome to the forum!

Great idea, and you will be giving your grandson a hobby he will enjoy his entire life. Small or large, simple or technical, we love our greenhouses here. Glad to have you as part of our greenhouse family.

Drdawg, thank you, I filled in profile. I am wanting to grow garlic, is it difficult?

No, Connie, in your area you'll grow it very well. That was my cash crop when I lived in Starkville. I grew almost 100 lb. of bulbs each year and sold them all, at an average of $22/lb. That crop allowed me to purchase more and more tropical plants, as well as the replanting of my garlic in the fall. I haven't planted a single clove here in S. Florida. We don't get enough "winter" for garlic to do well.

Kandy477 said:Has anyone any experience with plastic mini greenhouses for seed starting? I'm in zone 9 and I usually start my seeds indoors. I was thinking of trying one of these and starting them outside this year. Are these things worth it or should I stick to starting my tomatoes and peppers inside?
