I am easily confused, but *think* this one would be considered patterned. Someone correct me if wrong. Smiling

I think it is -- Not only does it have what seems like a mascara band with feathering, but also I see what looks like two bands of color going toward the throat -- and it certainly looks like a pattern.

Char, are you looking at these? Would appreciate your opinion on this.

Fred, I really love UNLOCK YOUR DREAMS -- I could not get a feel for its pattern from Larry Grace's photo, but yours really shows those incredible rings. And also, you know I love those little ones!

What about prism and appliqué patterns? I really love those. And I love cats1's picture of PICOTEE PRISM, and I have it also but it hasn't bloomed for me yet and after seeing cats 1's picture I can't wait to see it! Here are my prism daylilies that have bloomed for me:

PIRATE'S PRISM - My favorite! The first two pictures were from my April blooms and showed those amazing white streaks that PIRATE'S PRISM had in the cooler weather, plus the blooms were pinker; and then the third picture is from August rebloom.

MALACHITE PRISM

FEATHERED PRISM

Yes, I am looking Smiling Beautiful images everyone! So far all those pictured would be considered to have a pattern. Some have more variation than others and not all are as intricate as some of the newer ones we see today, but they all would be considered to have a pattern according to the AHS definition. There are so many variations and terms used to describe patterns that it is near impossible to put specific names on what is a pattern into a definition while leaving a definition inclusive to new patterns that may develop. It is easier to explain what is not a pattern, that is what the definition does. Self's, simple bi tones and bi colors are excluded and the color pattern must be more than a bold or solid eye, band, halo or watermark.

All these pictures of patterns are just gorgeous. I love everyone of them. Michelle your 'Waves of Joy' is outstanding. I haven't ordered many new plants for Spring next year, but two I did win on the auction were 'Waves of Joy' and 'Heather Grace'. These were two must haves for me. And, I have a ton of new patterned seedlings coming from seeds purchased on the LA in the last few years.

Here are a few of my pattered daylilies.

James,

Thanks for your very sweet comment. My trick is to take MANY photos and choose the best to post. I try to never take pictures in direct light, I usually take them in early morning light when they are freshest. The sun will wash out the color and make it too bright and yellow. I also use a very good picture program to crop them and edit them for color and brightness, Microsoft Digital Image Pro 10.

I can be quite weird with some of the modern patterns. They make me queasy as if I am looking at them with a stroboscope.
The problem is that when you are young your life it is ruined by your parents. When you are older it is ruined by your children.
