No complaints. Not in a HOA--never,ever,not NEVER--so the only code I have to watch for is the city ordinance about high grass or putting bulky trash out too early. Sold an old (broken) fire hydrant this past summer that had been left in the back when I moved in and my city council rep was the guy the buyer called to help load it. He was looking all around, but I was pretty sure it was in admiration, not condemnation.
In Spring and Summer, people driving by will stop to comment if I am outside and the walkers frequently stop to look around whether I am out front or not, all of which is very rewarding. If I can't have the soft, silky, walk-in-it-barefoot lawn that I remember from up north, I'm digging out 90% of the yard.
Cedar Elm tree, part of why I wanted this house. Doesn't seem to affect anything except what is growing around the first five or six feet from the base, and that is just water.
Did a Garden Tour last year at Trish's request, you can see some of the progression from the time I bought the house.
