The driveway pots are back! Rolling on the floor laughing

I guess I will mostly plant eggplant in them. I already planted some spring peas in them.

Rita I love that you can just fill your driveway with extra pots and grow your plants. If I did that I could just make a sign for it saying Deer Buffet.

Planted Peas on Saturday only to have the Squirrels dig them up. Only had a few peas left so they are now planted in buckets with crates over the tops so the Squirrels can't dig them up.

Spent the morning flipping two 4' X 4' compost heaps that have been sitting all winter. I think I finally figured out how to layer the heap so it heats up and breaks down throughout the winter. I bring home about half a 55 gallon bag full of veggie and coffee grind waste from work M-F. I also have my own kitchen scraps plus the neighbor gives me hers. All winter long I layer dried leaves, grass clippings and straw that I have collected along with tons of shredded black and white paper, grocery bags, and card board to each layer of veggie I add. (helps that I have a professional paper shredder) I also layer in the wood ash from the fireplace. One heap looks like it will be ready to Mantis in a few weeks. The other is breaking down nicely. Still have one heap half filled with ready to go Black Gold for the Garden and one more heap to flip. I'm gonna leave my long term heap alone til later in the summer. My long term heap is where I put all the sticks and rough stuff piled in with veggie scraps and leaves.

So happy that I don't have deer here. Horrid creatures!

You sure did lots of work. Great job.

The pots work out well on my sunny driveway.

I cleaned up this one tomato bed already. Started on another. I will be planting my Burpee Big Boy tomatoes here just like I did last year. Then last fall I put crocus around the bed to make it look nice in the spring.

This is my 7 foot square raised bed. Started work on cleaning that up for spring veggies also. Crocus planted around it also just to look nice in the spring.

you should change the bed for t's each year - i move mine around so the soil can restore itself at least that is the plan.

had to get more leek seeds today as they old ones did not germinate. hopefully not too late

I don't have the room to move them. They have to go in the same spots as the year before.

Last fall I had the idea to plant crocus around my side yard tomato beds. Get spring color before the veggies get planted. It turned out pretty good if I do say so myself.

The biggest tomato bed.

A smaller one that I plant Big Boy tomatoes in. My dog was outside with me and wanted to be in my picture.

Again, I never started tomato seeds. I really thought I would this year but after getting the puppy was just too busy.

I am cleaning up tomato beds, did the one way out front this morning. Next to do is that big bed in the first picture.

I did manage to plant both crimson clover and hairy vetch seeds today. They are truly cover crops but I just have them for the flowers.
