The first picture shows my Tecomanthe vine. I have fallen in love with it.

I'm pretty sure I got this beautiful Amaryllis in one of Chefmike's coops. I love the frilly edges!

This Crinum just opened its blooms today

Hetty: That white Amaryllis is really pretty ... it looks like Amaryllis (Hippeastrum 'Mont Blanc') I ordered a couple of Amaryllis from a different co-op here on ATP a few months ago; one was supposed to be 'Charisma' but when it bloomed it turned out to be 'Mont Blanc'.

Love, Love, Love that Crinum!!

Yes, what a beauty there Hetty. Lucky you, Lin, although you wanted the 'Charisma' I wouldn't be disappointed with that 'Mont Blanc'

My amaryllis are all on the north side of the house, and it will be just another week or two before the sun hits them and they will jump up. Although last night sure was warm and muggy.

Thanks - since that was one of the two or three whites I got from Mike I feel confident enough to import the image into the database.

I wish I knew what the Crinum was. I know it's not 'Stars and Stripes' because I have that elsewhere and the blooms are bigger.
On this one, the buds are a deep red before they open so it was quite a nice surprise!

So nice to see the sun today. Even if it is just for 1 day!!!! The ground is still a bit too soggy to get to the areas that need work done. I have plans for what is expected to be a sunny, but cooler, weekend.

David - my DP lost everything during the freeze. I've cut it back & the stems are "alive". Is it going to come back from last years growth? Or do I need to hope it comes back from the roots? I do have 12 seeds that have germinated. Soaked them in wet paper towels for 4 days then moved to soil. Less than 25% germinated. Now hoping they all survive.

Anyone know how the Coral Bean will come back? I'm trying to germinate some of those seeds also. So far, they are just sitting there.

I have the Shooting Stars in all stages of bloom, from still in bud to almost blown. Good thing the flowers last so well, it takes weeks for it to get around to blooming.

This crazy begonia is just getting to look more like a cartoon flower every day, I think. Coral Barleria has a flower here and there, and a few of my Pentas made it through the cold.

I watered the "death" house today for the first time in a few weeks...it looks very sad, but there IS a silver lining. Queens tears is blooming, silver squill has buds, one brug has new growth at the dirt line and I'm seeing new growth on a couple of other things as well....so all is not lost. In the yard the violets are in bloom as are two daffs and I'm seeing new growth on other things. So spring is trying to spring Thumbs up just in time for more below freezing temps Thumbs down

Its a wait and see thing Jean. I've had Dwarf Poinciannas freeze, cut then back to what I thought was live wood and still had them only come up from the base next season. The upside is that well developed root stock will create a tall fast return!

That Clerodendrum is special Elaine, and I am in love with your cartoon Begonia! Thumbs up What a beauty!

North Florida has been hit hard this year Ginger. I am amazed we have even passed through it relatively unscathed this year with the weather this Winter has brought the Nation.

I now have 9 DP seedlings growing. Once those seeds finally sprout, they shoot up quickly.

This Amaryllis is so common here and spreads easily; this is pretty early for it to bloom; it put a smile on my face today... Smiling

I think Spring is finally arriving here in Central Florida, I sure hope so anyway! It's been dreary and rainy today ahead of (hopefully) the last cold front of the season and a few things are beginning to bloom. One of the Hibiscus shrubs has been blooming even through the cold weather we've had, I need to prune it back but will wait another couple of weeks. The Carolina Jasmine (Gelsemium sempervirens) is in a container and I hope to find a spot in the ground for it in the next few weeks. I spotted some Salvia blooming today and when I was mowing the lawn yesterday I found a couple of Marigolds and one Morning Glory growing in the lawn so I pulled them up and transplanted them back to the bed where they are supposed to be.

Ginger: It's the second time in @ a month that we've mowed the lawn, we've had a bit of rain lately and although it didn't really need mowing yesterday I decided to do it anyway. Smiling I'm not sure if the Hibiscus would grow in your area or not. We had the one below at our other house for many years and it would grow above the top of the screened pool enclosure. I'd chop it down and it always grew back in one season but when we had those two really freezing winters in a row (2009, 2010?) the plant was so stressed that it totally died. Those two winters were brutal, we had a lot of ice and lost many plants.
