do these iris have PBF? I have some iris in my yard that are overgrown planted under a large shade tree. It doesn't look like they will bloom this year. I was going to move them with the hunch that they are probably a purple heirloom type iris. but I noticed today that they do not have any purple on the foliage. I used to have some of these at my other house, but now I can't remember!

I don't think the one I have is PBF, will double check in the morning.

@firemanswifelana

Hi, Lana, welcome. Smiling
Welcome! Welcome! Welcome!

I lost several dozen Iris to rot this year, pretty sure this one included. It will be at least next Spring before I will know if any survived (I hadn't been all that diligent in marking names in their locations Hilarious! ). Mine are not the variegated foliage type, but, if any pop back up, will let you know.

Welcome! Lana. My daughter smelled one of my favorite new ones this year, and immediately described it as grape candy. New Face. I have a lavender & beige historic at my old house in Redmond that smelled like fruity candy.

I don't have any of the iris that smell like grape. I have a couple dwarfs that are suppose to smell like chocolate. If they bloom I guess I will find out! Supposedly a few smell like rootbeer too.

Another historic iris from 1612 that smells like grape koolaid is Swerti. It is the oldest cultivated for sale iris. The stalks are tall with lots of blooms but the flowers are on the smaller size. Good grower and bloomer, it is sterile. Probably why it is still here today.

Niki--Thanks for the info on New Face. I was given that as a substitute this year. Can not wait to smell it!
May this month bless you with good fortune!
