We must be getting your rain coming up from the South! My rain water containers in the garage are full to the gills!
And finally the temperatures are a bit more Spring-like, but we are all looking forwards to some warm sunshine when this mess here is through.
The generator is always on standby, but I must say since Sandy we didn't have any power outages. Perhaps it helped that the town cut a lot of branches/trees and added new, taller power poles and lines. I wish they would move those underground…

Thanks .. they are growing in a bed that gets only about one and a half hours of full sun around noonish .. the rest of the time they are in bright shade .. I also have the B. ochracea but it's way behind the white and purple ones since the shade is not quite as bright.

Lovely bletillas, Anne! I tried some but they have petered out and disappeared. Either something eats the rhizomes or they couldn't take the summer sauna climate.

Got a nice back-lit shot of my Phaius microburst this morning.

I love that Phaius! Is that a terrestrial orchid? Also, I've heard that deer love Bletilla.

Yep, the Phaius are in regular clay pots with about half perlite and half leafy stuff from the garden, with maybe a little sphagnum mixed in. They seem to be doing well in the shade under my big oak trees. I think they might be able to grow in the ground, but I like to be able to bring the pots into the pool cage when they are in bloom.

Well I guess they will be going on my list of wants! Lol .. Why can't I just say no? Like I really need to acquire more plants.
