I bought a bag of strawberry plants last spring and managed not to kill them before getting them in the ground in the fall. They produced luscious strawberries all summer and in the ground the berries were even larger. They sent runners and as they grew a little plant I put the plant in the soil and cut the runner. I only have a very tiny bed so hope it is obvious which ones to dig up as they start fading out. I have been racking my brain to try to figure where I could put in a little raised bed to replace some lawn but I have to leave at least enough room for the mower or the other half will revolt. I have toyed with the idea of killing off the remaining lawn with cardboard and chips but can't quite do that. It really is pretty as it trails between raised beds and regular flower beds, passes in front of the pond, then out the back gate. Like a green river as the edges are very curvy in about half the area. I will have to wait til spring and take another look at the yard to figure what might be dug up and replaced.
