Last winter I winter sowed various agastache. They all did well over the summer. Plus I had numerous volunteers from the previous years agastache. We had bitter cold winter with near record snow fall. I was nervous as to what would survive. Yesterday I finally got to see some of my gardens. Most agastaches looked good!


One of these is Tango. The other are volunteers that came from a Apricot Sprite plant.

My new favorite, Apache Sunset, does not look good. But i've had others look like this end of winter and come back fine. So we'll see. I have two more in other spots that have not melted yet

My mom gave me Lavendar Haze two years ago. I read it was short, 12 inches, so I planted it in the front of a bed. It is gorgeous but got 3 feet tall!! So I moved it in the fall. It wasn't looking very good. But seems to be fine now! Sorry, the picture is not great. I don't want to cut back dead stems for a while yet

I bought a yellow Agastache from Lowe's two years ago. It did not come back last year. But in the late summer I found a volunteer from it and it bloomed yellow. I moved it to a spot with better drainage but did not know if it had enough time to settle in. It has green on it as of yesterday

Many of mine are doing pretty good. We've had a couple of cold cold days, so I always expect these 'first peeks' (I like that phrase) to die off, but looks like almost 100% of the Salmon Acapulcos I planted 2 years ago in my walkway in the backyard came back.. my A. canas are machines.. nothing stops them! Waiting on to see some of the others. Many of the salvias aren't showing yet except for the Blue Hill & MayNight.. but MN is a weed! I don't think I have any volunteers.. nothing volunteers in my yard other than bird seed & weeds!!

Yes Toni, I do expect some die off before summer. Last year the wet spring claimed more plants than the winter

I was looking forward to seeing it in bloom this year. Sadly a few days ago, I noticed that the wild cottontail rabbits have chewed all the stems down to a few inches, so I know that I'll have to replace it with another Joyful or another Agastache.
