JC disregard my request for pics on the other thread Shrug! Hilarious!
Looks great! Also since that semp already has offsets it will be no real loss. On the other thread someone (Bev or Marilyn maybe?? or Jo Ann?) suggested cutting the coning semp as early as possible, I totally agree with that - once you recognize that a semp is beginning to cone, is when you can do the surgery (or out patient surgery) nodding And the earlier you do this, the better the result of offsets being produced rather than the hen just dying.

Well, the semp I cut the bloom off of has died like it would have if I didn't ever cut it back. Crying
It was way too far along in blooming to save. Oh well, it's not a travesty, there are chicks of it still alive.
Here was the bloom I cut off, it surprisingly survived for weeks after this photo was taken.

Also there are quite a few larger semps blooming this year. I'll have to wait and see what is still alive when it all gets done. Sticking tongue out

Better luck next time, JC. I just keep trying but I do try to lop a lot earlier like when I start seeing coning of the center.

Totally agree with Bev!! And also even if you do everything 'correct' it still seems a hit or miss thing. So many of mine are blooming this year - I'm okay with it but I kind of wish I wanted the seed. I keep lopping off the stalks and composting them - Oh well, it is one of the down sides of these plants! Whistling
