What kind of shells? There are so many different ones here! Coquinas are very common here, and have been used for so many different things...I'd love to see what you were able to 'harvest'!

Marilyn, those are beautiful shells! I have a similar collection, and I've never really come up with an idea for use in the garden, so I chose to display them in a "beach" themed bathroom.
Maybe someday an idea will hit for the garden, or houseplants!

I was over the weight limit coming home for Phoenix a month ago and had to carry on specimen through the TSA check point - they had to swab the rock - everyone looking at me like I was nuts Smiling

Marilyn I have a pretty healthy shell collection and keep them in large glass containers - if you put saran wrap over the top tightly and trim the edge you can't even see it and the dust stays out. i usually have sand as the base. got some nice volcanic black sand from Maui years ago.

Thanks, Tara, Janice, & Bill......I'll think about a nice glass container....I know Mike spent a lot of time cleaning out the whelk shells.....He has 20 large conch shells in front of his house. He gave me one years ago, which I have in a perennial bed, but I'm always afraid a snake will move into it!

If it is a garter snake, they help keep bugs out of the garden.

I have a conch shell that my brother brought back from Nassau on his honeymoon almost 40 years ago! Never thought about it until today that I've had it that long. It went from my bedroom to two apartments, two houses and now in it's forever home Lovey dubby

The first image is something I made based on a picture celeste sent me a few years back - have it sit up by the stream

beach stone birdbath with nice mixture of green, blue, pink speckles and a deep black ribbon on a white quartz base

another decorative stone balance

cool leaf like stone sitting on a base
