Lynn,
That seedling is from 'Denise's Cobweb' X 'Killer'. Am hoping it shows some of the fasciation of 'Denise's Cobweb' don't you? There were 5 very good ones from that group, with varying levels of cobweb. All have been quite nice but none of them have been big.
On the other hand the seedlings from 'Kramer's Spinrad' X self are very big for one year old seedlings. A couple of them are quite red. Unfortunately the reddest one has the least cobweb. AAARGH! That is the joy and frustration of hybridizing. You know what genes are segregating but you can't tell which plant gets what genes. I think Cynda and you were both shocked by that row of ~25 'Grey Lady' X self seedling row where every seedling was remarkably different. Polly always taught me that those odd blends are wild cards as parents as they have genes for all sorts of colors and patterns. That cross certainly illustrates that point beautifully.
Am attaching one of the odd "in between" shades I'm getting from 'Lilac Time' X 'Jungle Shadows'. A lot of these have an almost metallic patina. This one has a form sort of intermediate between the two but others have the pretty water lily form of 'Lilac Time'.
I think Cynda and you need to come back for another look and help me decide on things I should be naming. Maybe I could increase the chances by promising more chowder!
