Hi,

I could not find this azalea in the database. I tried to add it, but the program told me to contact the administrators.

I believe this plant (which is commonly referrred to as 'Southern Charm' Azalea (or Azalea 'Southern Charm')) is a Rhododendrum indicum.

Is the plant in the database - but I am just not phrasing it correctly on the search? Confused

Thanks for your help.

It wasn't in the database, not sure why you were unable to add it, usually it's because the fields were not filled in correctly. It should look like this:
Common name: Azalea
Genus: Rhododendron
Cultivar: Southern Charm

I created the entry for you here:
Azalea (Rhododendron 'Southern Charm')

Another way to search for entries is open the rhododendron database and search alphabetically.

Polymerous, it didn't work for you because you were spelling the genus "Rhododendrum" instead of Rhododendron. The system didn't recognize that as a genus and consequently advised you to contact the admins.

I usually Google genus names if I'm not sure of the spelling. I can always count on Google to point me in the right direction. Smiling

Oops. Duh... *Blush*

Thanks, Sue, for putting it in there. (Now I can go upload a picture!)

No need to blush. It happens to all of us. I have the same problem with those two endings and I never can remember whether Glory Bower is properly called Clerodendrum (right) or Clerodendron (wrong). Smiling

Or, one can use the lazy-method and simply type in 'rhodod southern charm' which brings up only the correct entry without stewing about the end spelling. I use that a lot when I know the cultivar but am a bit squishy about the latin spelling. Or sometimes I'll just search using the cultivar name, which often brings up interesting matches for other plants.

Yep, that's what I do quite often, use just the cultivar name!
