I worked for the state park system for years and when they move them that's usually where they put them or else on a preserve. Stupid huh considering the public uses both a lot.

A wilderness area would be safer as the public doesn't have high use of them.

I'm assuming they are moved after they are proven dangerous? If so, that is stupid. If they move them just because someone doesn't want them on the property, but they've never done anything bad, that's OK, IMO. They can't do that either here. Also, you can't eat them. Only the licensed alligator control person can have it. I'm hoping that if it is attacking you, your family, or your animals, you CAN shoot it. ????? Maybe.

Licensed trappers here can sell the meat to restaurants and hides to companies that make pocketbooks, shoes, belts etc. I know of one gator farm where he sells all his large ones for meat. They are very expensive to feed and grow. Owners goes to fish processing plants and trucks home the inerds to feed them. I'd rather raise cows. LOL

If one was attacking anything of ours and of course a human it's had it. Sad part is there's a very small space between the eyes and you have to hit it dead on or you have a mad gator and that's not good. Trappers here usually take them live. Catch and bind their mouth with tape and put them in the back of their trucks.

Had a man from So. America that bought about 10 acres across the swamp from me. He invested in a large amount of goats. Long story short-they said a gator got them all and I was called over by deputy as a witness. What a mess all over the land. I don't think it was gators cause they don't leave their pray on land they take it under water. Man's wife would not build a house there after that and they resold the property. Next person built a lovely home on land and can you believe had goats but said he had no problems. The swamp behind our property runs for miles so naturally it has many gators. Years ago we had airboats running all night and I know they were poaching gators for extra money. That's a very unsafe business. We have never had one cross our pasture that we have seen so we don't bother them as long as they don't bother us. Guess ours are happy and full from eating turtles and fish in canal.
How big is the one in your pond?

It's about 5'. Very slight 5' too. Hasn't grown an inch. No, I wasn't afraid of a skinny 5' gator. I was afraid of it getting bigger, and mean. And, I've put a lot of time and money into getting some bass in my pond. Didn't want them eaten, except by me. Haven't caught one this year, but the water is still cold. Gator guy said they mostly eat floating food. Which would be turtles, snakes, frogs. They will eat fish, but they're harder to catch.
I think it was a pack of dogs got those goats. Any wild animal would carry them away.

Texaskitty,
Please don't get any where near that gator. That size can take down a cow. I hope you don't own a dog cause they will come up on land to get them. We don't let my choc. lab go anywhere near our canal cause she's foolish enough to probably be curious to what it was.

Wish Fish & Game would move it for you. When they lay eggs to hatch babies is when they are really touchy or breeding. I don't mess with them at all.

I found out my gator is malnourished because it has a very skinny tail. Didn't see it yesterday at the pond. Hoping it has moved to better hunting grounds!

I sure hope it's gone someplace else.
