I'm trying very hard not to add Un Peu Fou to my order! Love those multi colored irises.

Arlyn,

I should have known you would spot the one from 1929 in that group!

Un Peu Fou appears to be registered but not introduced; now I can't figure out how I got that picture (I do all of my "work" at work, so I will have to track it down later..

I think the Cayeux firm must have the record for longevity in the iris breeding world. There have been LOTS of great iris come to us from France....Arlyn

I found it! Here is the url I got it from:

http://nouveleuphorbia.blogspo...

the translation as follows:

New Cayeux 2013 - Always more !

Thirteen new in 2012. Twenty in 2013 !

Eh beh , at this rate , the catalog Cayeux will weigh several pounds in a few years !
And some varieties will have to disappear to make room for others. That is the harsh law of marketing and innovation.

We can also also note the presence in these twenty iris, three old varieties also signed Cayeux : Azyade (1925) , White Lady (1937) and Vault of Heaven ( 1955).
Yes, the "old " as is trendy and it sells. After the "old roses" , "historical iris " ? I also found that out of the loop marketing is a very good point , a very good initiative.

So in these twenty new , if you have followed , there has seventeen new creations. And when it all starts , inevitably, there are good and less good . Obviously, the judgment here is purely based on the photographs of presentation given by Cayeux , and not on the force , the aspect of yourself and other technical criteria and that we can see on foot. So I will show here a critical judgment solely on the general appearance of the flower.

So I've selected five varieties which , for me, are the most interesting :

" Fire Flower "

This flower-shaped , wide and horizontal falls , has everything to please me.
Yellow, however, is a color that touches me less , or that would tend to put me off , but I must admit , I am not shocked , not even a little surprised . Especially the appearance of the sepals , are set not only a thin border brown / burgundy, but also offer an amazing discoloration, a little clearer , as washed out. I do not know whether this effect actually keeps its promises on foot , but if that is the case, this variety has all good, and breathes the glow of a fire burning in his heart heat.
I also love the name !

"Villa Erba "

A name that leaves us dreaming of a holiday house, abandoned in the countryside where we take the time to live , where lounging in the garden overflowing with lush vegetation, fresh grass and flowers generous . Under our feet wet grass is the most comfortable mat.
And this that crosses my mind when I whisper the name image is completely in line with this majestic iris. blue glycine tender on the sepals and darker on petals, orange beard re- increase overall and a flower shape of the noblest and elegant.
Size ( 15x15cm ) is also an asset for flowers such refinement .
A fresh and calm for a corner garden dressed in soft blue and white , to be placed near a Doric column , or a vase Medicis ... we began to dream of imperial Italy.

" Yellow Sapphire "

A combination of unique , unusual color name . A name that sounds like an antithesis !
On the sepals of a yellow ocher barely clipped a white border , come to ask a very pale lavender petals . All the charm of the iris lies in what seems to contrast.
As a wheat field in summer topped with a clear sky , seen in both natural Yellow Sapphire and chromatically opposite of this gemstone colors: blue and gold.

" Nelly Tardivier "

A striking color !
How to describe it ? Of violet petals, on a velvety shades of purple horizontal falls , amethyst, suede , plum and copper .
This achievement is dedicated to the former director of the gardens of the Louvre and the Tuileries . In sum, a very Parisian variety. Refined , mysterious and memorable . A draped silk velvet on a cast ; Fashion -Week oblige!
A must see in order to get a true idea (and I 'm afraid to crack !)

" A Little Crazy "

Well, the combination of color is not new , but for Cayeux , this is not usual , of course .
It is still important to note that this new appearance in the catalog creations home. After the onset of beards and spurs spoon there two years , this is characteristic brown pattern on the outside of the sepals , including a more clear and contrasting color, which makes its appearance . Moreover pattern that reminds me some getting Barry Blyth ( " Luxuriant Lothario " ) or Anton Mego ( " Zlatovlaska " ) .
Still, more contrasting colors , more assertive , have been even more striking . But we say that it is a " first draft " and that most successful descendants arrive soon.
But beware , foreign competition is ahead !

Also caught my eye :

- " Dogfish " and tan striped burgundy and brown. An intermediate iris (50cm ) rather late .

- " Urluberlu " a plicata with bluish white petals on sepals creamy white , milky, thick , set with blue splash navy dark purple, and orange beard.

- " Grand Huntsman ," an attempt closer to the Holy Grail : the red iris !

in order: Dogfish , Urluberlu & Grand Huntsman

Again, varieties of fine quality flower throughout , although some approaches of repetition for the home , such as " Harlequin Tel " or " Vin d'Honneur " , form a little dated , almost overwhelmed , as " Santiago Castroviejo ." But some nice nuggets , which are fun to explore and imagine the garden. Note also this year a little more diverse perspective of colors and forms list, as usual, and the surprise to discover this new emerging trend of " historic iris ."
