Well, the first bloom has opened and as I was half way expecting it is just a ditch lily.
Thumb of 2014-05-04/Seedfork/d5ba92

Still pretty to me, look at the buds, counted well over fifty:
Thumb of 2014-05-04/Seedfork/3ec93a

It is even starting to develop branching down lower now.
Thumb of 2014-05-04/Seedfork/b37e8c

The other fascinated plant is also a ditch lily seems I have several of them and they are now starting to bloom: There is still a lot of difference in how each bloom looks.

Hurray! Lovey dubby nodding Thumbs up Angel Drooling

She's a beut, that's for sure!! Lovey dubby This is going to be some kinda fireworks show. I love the different bloom faces and hope to see as many different ones as you find, as well as a "group" shot if more of them start blooming together.

I've never seen branching begin below the others like that on a scape. I wonder if it has something to do with another scape wanting to form, or is branching that otherwise was subsumed when the faciating began...

Awesome plant, Seed! Hurray!

Those are beautiful! I used to grow them, but for some reason they all perished here. I think it was too hot and dry for them. Plus my sandy soil. I know they will spread nicely up north in boggy areas.
What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters, compared to what lies within us.

Makes me want to go prowl the roadsides and find me some more ditch lilies! Mine dies last winter and yes, I DID find them growing along the side of the road. Smiling
