Those are so beautiful, Fred! Totally love that first one, and the others are gorgeous too! I have a few seedlings that I'm keeping for now and will post later, but they're probably not of this quality -- but different...

Natalie - I think your little hybrid is sweet!

Here are 2 more that bloomed the first time this season for me:

Not sure about the spotting/stippled effect in this one. I hope it isn't thrips. It doesn't look like it. The first photo was taken this morning, the second bloom photo was this afternoon so you can see the color change:

This one is from last year. I think one of it's parents is Cherry Pie or Roses in Snow. This IS the daylily that got me hooked on growing them. It was grown from a seed that I got from Sandy (Seedsower) several years ago. Love, love, love it!!!

Wonderful seedlings! It seems like this has been my favorite thread (by month last year) for the last couple of years -- I just love to see what everyone is coming up with!

I'm assuming everyone can participate even though it's Fred's thread, and if I'm wrong please let me know.

Here are a few of my seedings created in 2011 that are just now blooming for the first time, and back then my interest was in toothy blooms and spiders:

I don't think the parentage I have listed is correct on this one, but what I have is
FABULOUS BLACK PEARL X CASPER'S REVENGE - Could this possibly be correct?
Thumb of 2014-05-14/Betja/84936d Bloom ages to: Thumb of 2014-05-14/Betja/674ee9

I've discovered that how the bloom ages throughout the day is VERY important here in Bakersfield, as most of them get cremated or fade miserably in our heat.

And here is one from 2011 that actually bloomed last year, so I planted it in the garden and this is how it looked this morning:
Garden name: "WAY COOL ALIEN" - WAY COOL X ALIEN FORCE
Thumb of 2014-05-14/Betja/dbb133 - And I like it in the garden.

And here are a few from 2012 that are just now blooming for the first time -- and my interest had changed by that time to trying for toothy minis and smalls.

WICKEDLY WILD AND WONDERFUL X BASS GIBSON

Natalie and Cat - Thank you!

Betty - Very lovely seedling blooms! I agree, I love the seedling bloom photos the best because they are all so unique! I love to see what other gardeners are creating by hybridizing!

My goal next year is to start hybridizing some of the patterned and teeth cultivars with each other. I have some interesting crosses growing right now that I received from Sandy and Mike as well as a few LA seed purchases that have done really well so far. I don't think I got them germinated in enough time to actually see blooms on them this year. I will have to clear out more areas to add new beds if I want to plant any more seedlings for next Spring! I added 2 new beds in the backyard this Winter as well as adding seedlings in ALL the various beds. And then made a border of seedlings in the front yard. So I know I have well over 300 seedlings growing all over the place. What's that saying .... you can never be too rich, too humorous, or have too many daylilies? I guess I am lucky that I have one out of the three! Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

Nearest to my house is all butterfly and hummingbird plants. They are all drought-tolerant as this is the hottest area of my entire yard. The area where the daylily border is now, used to be nice green grass, but the front yard had to be dug up last August to replace the septic drain field. So I took that opportunity to extend the front garden bed out with the daylilies. I want to get rid of most of the "lawn", so I might extend it out some more at some point this year. Here is my front border of all daylily seedlings that should bloom for the first time this year. I have no idea what to expect in the way of blooms:

Your off to a great start Betty, really like the small ones. I have been trying to register a mini for 20 years and have yet to get one good enough, looks like you may not have to wait that long.
(HB daylilies)These are all in the hybridizing area or lined out for possible registration in the next couple of years.
This will be registered this fall for sure.

Natalie and Vickie - Appreciate the kind words! If you go to my blog, there are photos of the new raised daylily beds as well as all the hardscaping additions to the backyard that I did this past Winter. I am getting closer to being done. 10 years of creating my gardens and they are by no means anything special (only to me). I live in a typical subdivision with a standard residental lot. I'm trying to cram as much as possible in! LOL!

Fred - Looks like you may be spending a little money this year (or next) when you register all your beautiful seedlings. They are all worthy of names and to be included in the AHS database of new intros! I love them all. Your current seedling blooms are very much what I am also interested in creating. I love teeth/ruffles and large distinct eyes! And I love large blooms! You've done an awesome job on your crosses!

And Becky, your home looks so wonderful and I love the arrangement of daylilies you've placed in that bed. Hope you'll share a picture with us when it's really buzzin' with daylily blooms!
