My grandmother had a house with 5 acres right on US31 just north of Lakeville. Great Aunt Minnie and Great Uncle Henry had a larger place on the other side of US31 just up the road from Gramma. Always think of them when I see corn growing.

We always enjoyed that drive along 31going into SB. There was a large farm market at one time north of Lakeville called Newton Farms. They sold everything from pumpkins and beans to mums and sweet corn. Must have been north of your relatives' places. Everything from SB south to Indianapolis is now being re-built & re-routed onto a new freeway US31presently under construction. The new freeway will by-pass Lakeville on the east about 2-3 miles. I still enjoy the farms and scenery on Old US31 especially in spring & summer. Just a little nostalgia.......
