Great article. Love the story of how you got this plant! Rolling on the floor laughing
It was offered to me but I opted out. I have enough "too happy" plants

@canadanna, you are a wise woman. Don't get me wrong; I love my Alstroemeria. Just wish I didn't have to love it so much and in so many places. Now that I think of it, that Chinese grandmother was the wisest of all; she charged me money so I could share the love. Rolling on the floor laughing

If I didn't know that I can't keep them alive, I'd be happy to offer to take your excess off your hands. (I actually did grow some from seed once.) Hilarious!

I have them, too, and they have multiplied to fill part of a bed...No takers?

Invaluable information! I'm just getting into these plants and don't know anything about them other than I like the flower. I am delighted to know the positives and especially the negatives about it and to find it all in one place.

Thanks!!!

It makes me happy that others enjoyed learning about this little plant. This year I was considering bagging the seed pods/heads so I can actually save the seeds to share with others. For the past two years they just exploded without me and planted themselves. Guess we could call that 'works without supervision' - a valuable trait in an employee; not so much in a plant.

Very informative and entertaining at the same time! At least Chinese Granny didn't make you dig them yourself!
